Aging farmers have an average age of 58 years old. In Maryland they are looking at artificial intelligence to help reduce farming costs.

It takes 600 people to take care of 600 acres, and now each artificial intelligence machine is able to replace 30 people. The AI machine uses artificial intelligence to determine the health of the plant and whether the strawberry should be picked.

Smart collars are being placed on dairy cows in Augusta, Georgia by Richard Watson to monitor their behavior. The farmer can tell whether the cow is drinking water, lying down, standing up or walking. These movements can help determine if and when the cow becomes ill. He hopes to monitor his 2,000 dairy cows to determine if they are sick even before they show systems.

Richard says dairy farmers have dropped by 50% in the last 20 years. In the old days each farmer only had 80 to 100 cows and the farmer could monitor their behavior and health. Today with 2,000 cows the dairy farmer needs help in monitoring and interpreting the behavior of the cows.

The Artificial intelligence grows as it receives more data. Artificial Intelligence helps in keeping costs lower. Keeping costs lower helps the strawberry industry to survive. AI helps with the maintenance of Dairy Cows health providing the Dairy farmer with timely information about his animals so he can better protect their health.
